2024: Everything You Need to Know
The SBI PO exam is renowned
banking sector competitive examination conducted by the State Bank of India to
recruit Probationary Officers. It tests candidates in various areas, including
logical reasoning, numerical ability, and communication skills. The selection
process comprises three stages: Prelims, Mains, and an Interview round, each
designed to evaluate specific competencies.
Stage 1: SBI PO
Prelims Syllabus
The Preliminary exam serves as
a screening test with three sections:
- English Language: Topics include reading comprehension,
vocabulary, error spotting, cloze tests, and sentence rearrangement.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Focuses on arithmetic concepts such as
simplification, averages, percentages, time and work, and data

Stage 2: SBI PO
Mains Syllabus
The Main examination evaluates
advanced skills and knowledge across multiple domains:
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: This section covers logical reasoning,
input-output, puzzles, and basic computer operations.
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Includes bar graphs, pie charts, case lets, and
probability questions.
- English Language: English language section of SBI PO mains exam encompasses
essay writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
- General Awareness: General Awareness section of SBI PO mains exam encompasses
on banking awareness, economic updates, and current affairs.
Additionally, a Descriptive
Test evaluates written communication skills through essay and letter
writing.
Stage 3: Interview
and Group Discussion
The final stage involves a
Group Discussion and an Interview to assess candidates' problem-solving
abilities, leadership skills, and overall personality. Marks from interview and
group discussion are combined with the Mains score for the final merit list.
