UPSSSC
PET 2025: One-Stop Handbook for Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus, Fees &
Important Dates
Introduction
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection
Commission (UPSSSC) conducts the UPSSSC PET — Preliminary Eligibility Test — as
a gateway for recruitment to multiple Group B and Group C posts in Uttar
Pradesh. This article provides a full overview of UPSSSC PET: from eligibility
and application to syllabus, exam pattern, validity of PET score and
preparation strategy. Candidates can use this as a one-stop reference to plan
their PET journey.
UPSSSC PET is a screening exam
conducted by UPSSSC. Instead of repeating a full exam every time a recruitment
notice for a particular post is released, candidates who qualify PET can apply
directly when relevant vacancies are advertised. In 2025, the PET serves as the
first step for many thousands of aspirants seeking government jobs across Uttar
Pradesh.
Using UPSSSC PET ensures a streamlined
selection process: once your PET score is valid, you can apply for multiple
recruitments without having to re-take a general eligibility test each time.

The PET paper
consists of 100 objective questions
carrying a total of 100 marks, to be completed within 2 hours. The difficulty level for most topics
is roughly equivalent to class 10 or 12 (secondary/senior secondary), making
PET accessible even for those with only high school education.
1. Once you qualify UPSSSC PET, you
become eligible to apply for various recruitments announced by UPSSSC during
the 3-year validity period of your PET score.
2. For each recruitment, the selection
process may include: a main examination, skill test (if any), and document
verification — depending on the post specification.
3. PET itself is not the final selection — it acts as a preliminary
filter. So aspirants must monitor UPSSSC’s recruitment notifications regularly
and be ready to apply when vacancies open.
Thus, solving UPSSSC PET successfully
doesn’t guarantee immediate appointment, but it opens door to multiple
opportunities across different posts.
·

2025, more than 25.3 lakh candidates registered for UPSSSC PET; the exam was

·

final answer key was released mid-November 2025; results are expected soon.
·
PET
score of 2025 remains valid for three
years, providing candidates flexibility to apply for posts over
multiple years.
To maximize your score in UPSSSC PET,
adopt the following strategy:
·
Create a
structured preparation roadmap by segmenting the PET syllabus into major
areas such as History, Geography, Economics, Polity, Science, Mathematics, Language
skills, Reasoning, and Current Affairs.
·
Use NCERT-level books and standard
study material:
Since exam difficulty is around class 10–12 level, NCERT textbooks are ideal
for basics.
·
Daily Current Affairs Revision: For Current Affairs and General
Awareness — follow daily news, monthly compilations, and state-level developments
(Uttar Pradesh).
·
Practice mock tests / previous years’
papers: Helps
manage time, improve speed and accuracy, and get comfortable with MCQ format
and negative marking.
·
Revision & Notes: Maintain short notes especially for
static GK (history, polity, geography) and repeat revision in last 10–15 days
before exam.
